About Wilbur

Born in Queens, NY in 1942, I spent my first five years living with my mother, grandmother, aunt, and great-grandfather in Queens.

May father returned from WW II and we moved to Somers, NY, where I attended Somers Central School from K through 12.

Graduating from HS in 1960, I went to College at University of Colorado, and promptly flunked out.

After serving in the US Army for three years, I married my HS sweetheart; unfortunately that marriage wasn’t successful, and we divorced after two years.

For eight years, I managed a hippie coffee house, sold very high-end audio equipment, and ultimately went back to college in Fall 1974.

This time, more motivated, I finished a BS degree in Electrical Engineering and went on to complete a masters degree in EE at MIT.

I was ill suited to being a working engineer, and after a few jobs, I taught Electrical Engineering at both University of Colorado and at Metropolitan State College of Denver from 1984 until retiring in 2003 – BEST DAMNED JOB OF MY LIFE!!!

Now I have resettled in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico where I have been living for four years.

In May 2022, I met my wife, Taly, and we have been living together since June 2022, and married since June 2023.

About Taly

Taly was born in Northern California in February 1951, to somewhat itinerant parents (Bill Slay, and Jane Gilbert)

Her mother was an accomplished artist, and her father was both a school teacher, and a wanna-be organic farmer.

Mom and Dad exposed their daughters (Taly and Reny) to a number of cultures and living environments.

Taly and Reny lived some of their childhoods in Northern California but spent most of their teen years in Italy and (mostly) in the Canary Islands.

As young women, the girls hitchhiked around the European continent, and had adventures most young people only dream of.

For a number of years, together with her second husband, Taly lived half of the year in Northern California, and the other half near the southern end of the Baja Peninsula in Mexico.

In both places they had acreage, lived a “Swiss Family Robinson” lifestyle, growing crops, making their own wine, and building homes.

In later years, Taly and Reny became Australian citizens and now spend time both in Byron Bay, NSW in Australia, and San Miguel de Allende in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico.
