Doug and Mabel and JJ (John Hobson) returned from literally hitchhiking around the world in fall 1967. Doug and Mabel, Doby and Diane, and I jointly rented this fine old Victorian house in East Capitol Hill in Denver. BJ had been living in his dad’s house at the time, but when he died, BJ moved into the house with us.
The residents came and went over the years, but the house stayed among a fairly close-knit group of friends until about 1978, when it was sold out from under us – probably something of a record for urban communes.
These pics are from approximately June, 2017. The house had been restored to its original grandeur by then.
