Mix softened butter, garlic, salt, parsley, and the parmesan cheese.

Slice baguette on the diagonal into 3/8 inch thick slices.

Spread each slice of bread with about 1 tablespoon of butter mixture.

Bake on a flat pan in a 375º oven for 12 to 15 minutes. Serve with hot soup.
