Buttermilk Biscuits

 1 ¾ cups flour
 ½ tsp salt
 2 tsp baking powder
 ½ tsp baking soda
 1 tsp sugar
 ¼ cup shortening
 ¾ cup buttermilk

Preheat oven to 450º

Mix dry ingredients, cut in shortening, add buttermilk and mix lightly

Turn dough out onto a floured pastry sheet. Knead gently for 1/2 minute. Roll or pat to 1/4" thickness.

Cut with the rim of a 3" glass and place on a baking sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes.
